My name is Lulu Demantle, and I am originally from Southwest Alaska. I now reside in Anchorage, where I continue to nurture my deep connection to Alaska’s cultural and natural heritage through my creative work.
As an artist and craftsperson, I specialize in handmade jewelry and mixed media art. My work includes traditional basketry, grass earrings, fur cuff gloves with beaded toppers, and skin/fur sewing. I also engage in weaving and writing, blending ancestral techniques with contemporary expression.
Each piece I create is rooted in the land and traditions of my home that has evolved through generations, reflecting both the resilience and beauty of Alaska Native artistry. Through my work, I aim to preserve cultural practices while sharing stories that honor my heritage and community.
