Ursala (Kadusné) Hudson Hudson
I create interdisciplinary artwork and events that are both founded in and generators of intergenerational collaboration. When I work, I am drawing together the wisdom of grandmothers, the warnings of uncles, the musings of friends, the theories of intellectuals, the threats of predators, the taste of prey, the whispers of the mountain, the promise of loneliness, and the embrace of community. Infinite movements and play converge in a tangible shape.
I implore the creative act as a tool to explore dimensions beyond the smokescreen of the capitalist patriarchy. Material manipulation allows me a metaphorical practice in building and deconstructing paradigms and institutions. I practice confronting established definitions of worth and beauty with materials and elements that may be underappreciated, discarded, or rejected. I do this for a self-practice, to embrace the parts of me that I’ve in the past been encouraged to silence, discard, or hide.
My work both embodies and challenges the settler-colonial construct. It relies on the globalization of ecosystems for its existence and opposition. It is a testament to the transformative potential of art, and serves as a catalyst for community engagement, self-discovery, and social change.
Through my work, I seek to inspire dialogue, provoke thought, and foster connections that transcend boundaries. I seek to ignite a sense of shared humanity and empower others to engage in meaningful connection and action.
