Janine Gibbons
Janine Gibbons is a multi-disciplinary Haida artist and author whose work bridges ancestral knowledge and contemporary Indigenous expression. She lives and works between Alaska, Hawaiʻi, and the Pacific Northwest.
Her practice spans visual art, wearable art, public art, and storytelling, with a deep focus on material, place, and cultural continuity.
Grounded in Haida language, land, and ocean knowledge, Janine’s work honors lineage while engaging contemporary audiences. Her murals and public artworks emphasize community, visibility, and Indigenous presence in shared spaces, while her illustrated and written works extend these narratives into print.
She also has a book coming out in February called We Are Who We Are by Manitoba Premier, Wab Kinew. https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/726584/we-are-who-we-are-by-wab-kinew-illustrated-by-janine-gibbons/
