Hello, my name is Dawn Randazzo. I am Inupiaq and Sugpiaq with family from Shishmaref and Tatitlek but I was born and raised in Anchorage. I was taught sewing, beading and qaspeq making by my Aana Lorena Seetomona from Shishmaref and my mother Sheila Randazzo while I was growing up. I have also loved painting my whole life and have always been inspired by my Inupiaq and Sugpiaq culture in the art that I create. My sister and I started a small business selling our art in 2018 called Camai Co. and since then we have loved participating in the Alaska Native artist community. Also, professionally, I have had the privilege to work with elders and experienced artists learning how to sew with gut, basket weave and also document the process of making a traditional Sugpiaq qayaq. I love learning and also teaching our traditions, and I am so proud to carry on my culture through art!
